Introduction

Tv Where My Head Should Be takes place in a similar world to our own, but in the 2010s a bioweapon called "The Drought" was released onto the world by mistake. Evenutally this causes a domino effect that leads to the creation of a TV headed race known as "Televi" in the early 2050s.

This page is kind of like a lore document that covers everything about the story so far. I won't go into a lot of specific character details, so you might have to go to character pages for more information on certain characters. Please keep in mind I am not the best writer so my world-building might not be the most sound and also there might be some grammatical errors... Sorry if that makes this a less enjoyable read!!! If you find any errors, have any thoughts about the current story, or just want to ask anything about it, feel free to contact me via whatever avenue you prefer :)

This page is suuper under construction rn. I'm sharing my progress early so I don't lose this code, and also because it's gonna take a while to finish... For now enjoy what's on the page and check back in maybe a week for more!

Story Arcs

Pre-2040

This isn't really a story arc, it's just some stuff that happened before 2040 that is relevant to the lore.

The Drought

The Drought is a bioweapon that was created to use against enemy countries, when deployed it creates a biome called Drought which continuously spreads over time, overtaking any habitable land. The air in the Drought paralyzes anyone who breathes it in, so people who get trapped in it are unable to be rescued. If someone is removed from the environment, they will be able to move again within a short timeframe. It gained the name “The Drought” because people trapped in it die from dehydration.

In the 2010s, it was accidentally released into the world before the people working on it could discover a way to stop it and its spread. The Drought is currently slowly taking over the world over the course of many decades, less and less land is livable for humanity as time goes on.

Victor's Corporation and the creation of Ai

I haven't named it yet, but when I do I'll update the name of this seciton. Victor is the father of Renata, and an inventor. Due to the crisis The Drought caused, he dedicated his company to creating solutions to The Drought. His first big success was a train he designed which could carry people across Drought zones safely so long as railways were built before the area was blocked off by Drought. This saved his hometown from irrelevancy as after it was surrounded by The Drought, people were still able to come and go from the town by using his trains.

Unfortunately an accident occured one day, and one of the trains derailed as it was leaving the town, leaving all of the passengers stranded in The Drought to die. Victor's wife and Sol's older brother were on that train that day, both of them died. This event was catastrophic for Victor's reputation in his hometown as many people knew people onboard, he and his daughter were hated by the community from that day onwards.

His next project was supposed to be a tool people could wear to traverse The Drought safely, allowing for rescue efforts. The earliest prototype he made for this was Ai, an AI assistant who was contained in a wearable TV. She had wires she could use to move, the purpose of her was to crawl through The Drought, find a stranded person, climb on their head and then use the wires to puppet their body back to safety. He showed his daughter, Renata, this prototype and she instantly became attached to the AI assistant for its personality so Victor decided to donate it to her since he had newer prototypes to work with. As time went on though, he noticed Ai developped sentience after spending so long with his daughter and he grew concerned. Ai saw Renata as her sister, and so she saw him as her father. Victor grew to hate her, but he could not get rid of her or else he would upset Renata.

Aster and Sol's backstory

Aster grew up wanting to become an astronomer, however he struggled to pursue this dream because his parents would not support him. When he was very young, he would deal with a lot of bullying from other kids, he had no friends until one day Sol stood up for him. Due to his lack of positive role models in his life, he became emotionally dependent on Sol and would put him on a pedestal. As he grew older, he realized he had a crush on him, but could never admit to it.

Sol grew up with an abusive father alongside his older brother. Him and his brother would use super-hero cartoons to cope, but one day his brother vanished and Sol's father simply told him that he had run away. One day at school, Sol saw Aster being bullied and remembered how the heroes in his favorite cartoons would always stand up for victims, so he stood up for Aster. Aster became very dependant on him, and would treat him like he was a real life super-hero, since Sol was just a kid, this really got to his head and his perception of the world became warped.

Sol truly saw himself as a hero who dealt with villains, and Aster was his "side-kick." The two of them would go around beating up bullies or anyone who they percieved as being wrong. Eventually Merin decided to join them to avoid their attacks since he used to be apart of a group of "bullies" (they were really just class clowns who Sol didn't like). When the 3 of them reached adulthood, they decided to flat together and they stopped attacking "villains." Sol never truly stopped thinking in terms of black and white morality though, sometimes threatening people he had problems with privately behind Aster and Merin's backs. A little bit after moving in together, Merin got into a relationship with a woman named Hibiscus who began living in the flat with them all. Sol despised Hibiscus because he felt like she was taking away one of his friends attention.
